We often represent clients involved in car or truck crashes who have delayed pain.
In other words, the painful symptoms of injury do not present until several days after the crash. This occurs more often than you may realize.
We always recommend that no matter how light the car crash, go get checked out by a medical professional. In Florida you have 14 days from the day of the accident to seek medical treatment to trigger your PIP benefits (personal injury protection). PIP pays up to $10k of your medical bills to your medical provider(s). However, if you do not see a doctor within 14 days of the accident, PIP in all likelihood will not pay for your treatment.
There is no risk in at least getting checked out by a doctor within the 14 day period, but if do not present to a doctor, you lose out on using your PIP benefits.
